Why are Jesus Christ and Mary appearing? 
  
  Instead of trying to explain why we feel these visitations are occurring, we'll let the heavenly messengers speak for themselves.  During an apparition, messages are most always given to the seers who are then instructed to reveal them to the world.  Throughout all of the apparitions happening throughout the world, the content of the messages most always has a common tone: 

• God does exist, loves us all, and knows what will bring us peace and happiness better than we do.  For us to obtain these things, all people need to come back to God.
• Jesus Christ was in fact the divine Son of God and He has been offended by the multiplication of sins in the world today.  All of humanity is called to prayer and repentance and an increased devotion to the Eucharist and Confession. 
• A great change is coming to this world that will affect ALL people.  However, there is still hope for the future and we need not fear as long as we seek to change our hearts and be spiritually prepared for the coming times.
• Global signs will come soon that will cause all people to believe that the apparitions and messages are really true, however, people should not wait for the signs to seek God or believe.

• Divine guidance is given on how we may return to God and obtain peace, happiness, safety, be prepared for the future, and all else spoken of here.

     The core message of Medjuorje is a call to Conversion, conversion back to God.  Our Lady's purpose for coming to Earth is to guide each one of us back to her son Jesus.  She does this by leading us step by step toward a life of holiness through the almost 300 public messages she has given to the world through the visionaries in Medjugorje. The time for decision is NOW!!. Our Lady's call is URGENT!!. We must open our hearts and begin to change our lives starting today, starting now.

      Mary has told us that the messages she is giving are given to her from God and are a call to for all humanity to Peace, Love, Faith, Conversion, Prayer, and Fasting.  We are each challenged to answer Our Lady's call to change our lives, and turn our hearts back to God.  She has told us that without this change of heart, the great era that is approaching this world will come violently and painfully.  This is not mean't to frighten us, but to encourage us to begin the journey back to God now, before it will be too late. 

      Mary has said that ALL people must be converted to be ready for the times ahead.  Many people, in hearing this, might say that they feel they are doing just fine and are ready.  The fact is, we are told that if we are not praying, not learning how to fast or make personal sacrifices, and are not earnestly and sincerely seeking God in all aspects of our lives, we are in fact, not ready.  For those people that simply for one reason or another will refuse to change, Mary has said that eventually God will provide a great sign that will cause ALL people to believe.  However, she has made it clear that PEOPLE SHOULD NOT WAIT FOR THE SIGN to believe, for "when the sign comes, it will be too late for many".  This sign that God will allow to occur is one of what has been called . . . 
  

      Currently, Ivanka, Marjana, and Jacov have received all ten secrets, and they no longer see Mary except on special occasions.  The remaining visionaries (Marija, Vicka, and Ivan) each have received 9 of the 10 secrets, and they still see the Blessed Mother daily.  When each of the six visionaries has received all ten "secrets", Our Lady will stop appearing to them. 

      There will then be three warnings given to the world.  These warnings will occur on the earth.  Mirjana will witness them.  They will be released to the world one at a time through a priest (now chosen).  Ten days before each of the warnings the priest will receive a parchment. He will not be able to read the parchment except for much prayer, fasting, and help from Our Lady.  The chastisement will be announced to the world three days before the event is to take place.  He will announce to the world what, where, and when the warning is to take place.  Mirjana's testimony will be a confirmation of the validity of the apparitions and an incentive for the conversion of the world. 

      After the first warning, the others will follow within a rather brief period of time.  So it is that people will have time for conversion.  After the three warnings, a permanent visible sign will be left on the mountain where Our Lady first appeared in Medjugorje. Those who are still alive will have little time for conversion. For that reason, the Blessed Virgin calls for urgent conversion and reconciliation.  The permanent sign will lead to many healings and conversions before the messages become reality. 

      The ninth and tenth secrets are grave matters. They are a chastisement for the sins of the world. The punishment is inevitable because we can not expect the conversion of the entire world. The chastisement can be lessened by prayers and penance, but it can not be suppressed entirely.  An evil which threatened the world according to the seventh secret, had been eliminated through prayer and fasting. For that reason the Blessed Virgin continues to ask for prayer and fasting. The invitation to prayer and penance is destined to ward off evil and war and above all to save souls.  Our Lady says: "You have forgotten that with prayer and fasting you can ward off wars, suspend natural laws." 

  
     What is important to understand about the secrets is: 

• We should not wait for the secrets to unfold to start our journey back to God.  By then, it will be too late for many to change.  People cannot change that quickly even if they do desire it.  It is a slow, gradual process.  Sometimes one can experience a change of heart suddenly, but for most of us, to become a different person, a new being, it takes time.  DON'T WAIT.
• The secrets are not mean't to cause people to fear for the future.  A knowledge of them however will help stir many of us to action.  This is good.  Many of us need a little spark to set us in motion - to get us started on our journey towards the truth.  The future is in fact a very bright and hopeful one for those who will not delay and seek God NOW.  For others who simply will not turn - the secrets and what will follow them is a very bleak future indeed.  The point is not to fear the future - just do something!  For those that start to seek God in their lives now, and continue each day, you are promised eternal happiness and peace.
